Selection and Installation of Video Surveillance in Computer Rooms

In the installation of computer room equipment, the selection and installation of video surveillance play a crucial role in ensuring the security of the computer room. When the number of monitoring points exceeds 8, especially for resolutions of 720P and above, it is recommended to use a full-gigabit network switch to ensure the stable transmission of high-definition video streams. The actual bandwidth of a 100M switch is usually lower than the theoretical value, so it is best to connect no more than 8 cameras to a 100M switch.

Between the front-end switch and the main switch in the computer room, national standard category 6 network cables and category 6 RJ45 connectors should be used to ensure the stability and speed of signal transmission. For long-distance transmission, optical fiber is recommended. Before construction, the IP addresses of all devices should be uniformly planned and registered to avoid IP conflicts, and the IP addresses of the cameras should be marked on the drawings for easy maintenance in the future.

Since it is used indoors in the computer room, cameras with low-light adaptability should be selected. According to the lighting conditions in the computer room, ordinary cameras, low-light cameras, or infrared cameras can be chosen. If the computer room is dimly lit or requires night-time monitoring, low-light cameras with infrared support should be prioritized.

For ordinary cameras without wide dynamic range functionality, direct light sources should be avoided, and they should not be installed against the light to prevent image quality from being affected. Appropriate lens focal lengths should be selected based on the monitoring range. Wide-angle lenses are suitable for areas with wide monitoring angles and short distances, while zoom lenses are suitable for scenarios where the focal length needs to be adjusted. When choosing a zoom lens, the lens specification should not be less than that of the camera. The monitoring range can be covered by using multiple fixed cameras or pan-tilt-zoom cameras in combination to achieve a balance between panoramic and detailed views.

According to the security requirements of the computer room, cameras with intelligent analysis functions such as motion detection and area intrusion alarm can be selected to improve management efficiency. For example, some high-end models support these functions. For scenarios requiring high security, technologies such as HTTPS encryption can be used to protect the secure transmission of video stream data.

Installation considerations: The recommended installation height is between 3 and 4 meters, which prevents malicious damage and facilitates future maintenance. During installation, it is necessary to ensure that the cameras are securely fixed to prevent image shaking. In outdoor environments, dedicated brackets should be used to enhance wind resistance.
